The Enormous Egg

I have finished reading "The Enormous Egg". People say that keeping a pet is a huge responsibilty.  Nathan Twitchell having to maintain that dinosaur turn out to be a nightmare. After many problems with government officials he finnally settled into the national zoo. At first there was a petiton to get the dinosaur out of the country. It took a speech from an ordinary kid to show the whole nation that it's important to keep an animal like this alive.
I have learned from Nate that if your are determine to accomplish something you'll get it or achieve it. He and the hen kept the egg warm for six weeks. An egg usually doesn't take this time to hatch and this egg was enormous which leads to the tittle. After the egg hatched Nathan worked extremely hard to find food for this over size animal. That was when the begining of autumn came. He had to find a permenant home for this creature. After many problems with the cops in Washington DC, Nate decided to put the creature in the zoo. A senator wasn't going to allow this to happen. He was even proposing to get this animal extinct once again. So it took a speech from Nate's heart to explain to the whole nation that keeping a tricertops was vital for the nation and to him because it was his pet. After many petions and  contributions, the dinosaur had food funding for 40 years. Later on this could be a dilema because a tricertop's life span is 150 years. I bet Nate will make one more speech to keep the funds going for this unique creature. I admire him for being determine to care for this creature. Nate also had one more quality which made him succesful which was perception. A seventh grade substiute teacher once told me that if you have a good perception than good events will occur in life. If you do have a bad perception then you'll have not so good events happening.
This book was very enjoyable to read. It was so good that they made a movie out of it. Then after the movie was made, a recognition was made for this book at a zoo. This book left me wondering if it would ever be possible for a hen to lay a dinosaur egg?

  1. Jonathan-
Nice post. I have never heard of this book, but I definitely agree with you & your thoughts about Nate & how determined he is. I love books when kids realize how powerful they can be; I hope Melinda realizes this soon.
